Diana Damrau - Live Intimate Performance at NYC's Le Poisson Rouge
Diana Damrau – lauded by the New York Times for her “lustrous agile coloratura soprano voice and charisma galore,” took a break from her run as Amina in the Metropolitan Opera’s production of Bellini’s La Sonnambula, for an intimate evening at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City.
Damrau will perform music from her new Erato album Forever, featuring songs from operetta, musicals and the movies. Although she made her name on opera stages around the world, she calls Forever the ‘soundtrack of her life,’ saying: “this music shows a side of me that many people don’t know yet… Every life has its own soundtrack and these are numbers that have had an impact on my life – and no doubt on other people’s lives too. I have tried to gather together my own memories and the collective memories of my generation. I’m a child of my time … and I’d also like to show the world that opera singers are not confined to one genre.”
Acclaimed as the “leading coloratura soprano in the world,” Diana Damrau continues to amaze audiences with her unique voice and arresting stage presence. A regular guest to the most renowned opera companies and concert halls, she was awarded the title Bayerische Kammersängerin in 2007 and, in 2008, named “Singer of the Year” by Opernwelt magazine.
