Details: For the LXXXII Festival of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino debuts at the Teatro del Maggio on Tuesday 14 at 8 pm «La Straniera» , one of the least performed operas by Vincenzo Bellini, never entered the repertoire. In Florence it was performed only once, at the Teatro della Pergola in 1830, but in the second revised version and adapted, as was customary, to the cast. For the new critical edition of the original integral version (the cuts will be minimal and never affect more than 6- bars), dated 1829, is a debut. Only three performances (in addition to the first, Thursday 16 to 20 and Sunday 19 to 15.30). On the podium of the Orchestra and Chorus of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino there will be Fabio Luisi , a notorious Belcanto specialist, on which he will carry out a detailed project in the theater, including well-known and rare works like this one. It was a huge success, the debut at La Scala on February 14, 1829, and the recovery of 1830 was also successful, but then fell into oblivion, until it was recovered in Palermo in 1968, starring Renata Scotto. Subsequent filming can be counted on the fingers, although the leading role was always entrusted to great singers (pour cause, given that the first lady Bellini had at her disposal for the cast of the debut was Henriette Méric-Lalande, great dramatic soprano d 'agility).
The soprano Salome Jicia , a young Georgian consecrated just three years ago by the Rossini Opera Festival and now in great demand, dresses up as a foreigner . Together with her Laura Verrecchia (Isoletta), Dario Schmunck (Arturo), Serban Vasile (The Baron of Valdeburgo), as well as some young artists from the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino: Adriano Gramigni (The Prior of the Spedalieri), Dave Monaco (Osburgo ) and Shuxin Li (Lord of Montolino).
